2021 లో ప్రభుత్వం The Surrogacy (Regulation) Act అనే చట్టం తీసుకువచ్చింది.
దీని ప్రకారం:

1. Only altruistic surrogacy అనుమతించబడింది – అంటే surrogateకి money ఇవ్వడం కాదు, కేవలం medical expenses, insurance మాత్రమే cover చేయాలి.
2. Commercial surrogacy (money-based) completely banned.
3. Surrogate అవ్వగలది –
   • Married woman (age 25–35)

   • Close relative అయినా కావచ్చు
4. Intended couple criteria –

5. Single parents, foreign nationals, same-sex couples surrogacy చేయించుకోలేరు (as per current law).
